Pidgin works with:

Configure pidgin
- Open Pidgin
- From the 'Buddy List' window, click on 'Tools' and then 'Preferences'

- The 'Preferences' window will be displayed
- Click on the 'Network' tab
- Under the 'Proxy Server' section, change the 'Proxy type:' to 'HTTP'
- Enter 'wwwproxy.ru.ac.za' in the 'Host:' field
- Enter '3128' in the 'Port:' field
- Enter your Rhodes username in the 'Username:' field
- Enter your Rhodes password in the 'Password:' field
- Click 'Close'

To add accounts
- Click on 'Accounts' and then 'Manage'

- The 'Accounts' window will be displayed
- Click on 'Add'

- The 'Add Account' window will be displayed
- To add a Google Talk account
- Select 'Google Talk' from the 'Protocol:' combo box
- Enter your Google Talk username in the 'Screen name:' field
- Enter your Google Talk password in the 'Password:' field
- Enter a nick name in the 'Local alias:' field
- Click 'Save'

- To add an MSN account
- Select 'MSN' from the 'Protocol:' combo box
- Enter your MSN account name in the 'Screen name:' field
- Enter your MSN password in the 'Password:' field
- Enter your nick name in the 'Local alias:' field
- Click 'Save'
