Summer School
Please note that updated and accurate information with regards Summer School will be made available after the last Faculty meetings of the year, that is after November Academic results are released.
You will not be allowed to attend Summer School if you have been excluded or if you have outstanding fees.
The Rhodes University Statistics Department offers a Summer School each year to students who obtain a FSS symbol for either Statistics 101 or Statistics 1D. Summer School will not be offered for Theory of Finance in January 2013 . Students who have a supplementary examination may attend Summer School if they so wish. Note that candidates may only attend one Summer School. All the relevant documentation as well as registration and accommodation forms can be found on this page.
Dates: 8 January to 19 January 2013
NOTE:
- The Statistics Department highly recommends that candidates that are awarded a November Supplementary examination (F1S) do in fact sit this exam.
- Students who have obtained a FSS symbol for the Theory of Finance, Statistics 1D or Statistics 101 examination have the option of attending the relevant Summer School. Those students who do NOT attend Summer School will NOT be awarded supplementary examinations and will need to repeat the course.
- Entry into the Summer School programme is strictly limited based on previous academic results (see below for further details). If you have not satisfied these academic criteria, namely that you have not attained at least 35% (FSS or higher), you need permission from YOUR Dean to attend Summer School.
- There are both upper and lower limits to the number of candidates that can be accepted. Selection for the Summer School will be on a first come first serve basis.
- Those students who register for the Summer School must attend ALL the Summer School lectures to qualify for admission to the Summer School examination. Students who for some reason cannot attend all the Summer School lectures need the permission of their Dean to do so, for example arrive late as they are on holiday etc.
