Comings and goings of the SRC elections

The 2015 Student Representative Council (SRC) elections have come and gone with only the thought of why some candidates made it, while others didn’t, remaining.

The student turn out at the inauguration was not great ahead of the SRC results, with students taking up 50 out of the 350 available seats – a massive 14.2% of the congregation. The meagre student turnout raises questions as to whom exactly the SRC represents.

Siyanda Makhubo claimed first spot while Grace Moyo’s controversial “Because it’s about you” poster campaign might have been too much for the people. These posters centre the attention on Moyo and little was said about the students.
