Windows 7
Windows 7 has only seen limited deployment by early-adopters on our campus thus far. Whilst we've got some experience supporting it, it isn't as comprehensive as our experience with Windows XP. In addition, only a subset of applications the University uses have actively been tested for Windows 7 compatibility. This means that we cannot yet consider Windows 7 fully supported on the Student Network.
That said, our experience thus far is that it far more compatible with the University's infrastructure than Windows Vista. We're reasonably confident that most things will work correctly with Windows 7, and we'll actively attempt to fix those that turn out not to. Most notably, the printing issues that plagued Windows Vista users appear to be resolved in Windows 7. Our printing services are known to work with both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows 7.
If you've got a newish laptop or PC with Windows 7 on it, you should feel reasonably confident that you can use it on our network.
If and when known issues arise, we'll document them on this page.
