Trading Live for Mandela Day
Date Released: Fri, 6 July 2012 12:20 +0200
The Rhodes University Community Engagement (RUCE) office, in partnership with the Rhodes University Human Resources (HR) Division, is proud to announce the inaugural Trading Live for Mandela Day initiative, to take place on 27 July 2012. In line with the central objective of Mandela Day, this project provides Grahamstown community members an opportunity ”to take action to help change the world for the better, and in doing so build a global movement for good"
The idea behind Trading Live is that all Rhodes staff and Grahamstown community members, including Community Partners
affiliated with Rhodes donate 67 minutes of their time on the 27th of July 2012 by trading their skills, talents, interests or hobbies with other interested parties in Grahamstown.
Ideas include presenting a lecture or workshop or sports clinic, running a cooking or sewing or toy making class, offering a car wash or
spring cleaning service, giving a musical or choir or drama performance, producing a delicious traditional cultural food dish with an explanation of why this dish is important to your culture.
Recognising that we all have something to offer one another in our community and each other, Trading Live for Mandela Day seeks to
build bridges and encourage new reciprocal relationships to emerge in Grahasmtown hence the slogan for the day: Masibambisane siluluntu lwaseMakana.
Please note that for students to participate they will need to do so on behalf of a student organisation (a society/hall/residence/oppie group)
