Combine your degree (anything from Accounting to Zoology) with a Post Graduate Diploma in Journalism and Media Studies to fast-track your media career. The PGDip JMS is an intense one-year postgraduate diploma providing turn-key critical skills for media practice and analysis. The programme is a widely respected gateway qualification to professional journalism and media work.
A minimum of a good pass in a 'non-journalism' undergraduate degree is your first step to a professional career in newspapers, magazines, online or even television and radio.
We offer a practical programme that enables students to generate news and features across a wide variety of platforms and fields of interests such as science, politics, health, business, and art. Learn the finer points of news reporting, digital photography and online journalism as you debate ethical challenges and deliberate on the changing nature and roles of journalism in society. The School has partnered with Grocott's Mail and other media which means all students graduate with a published portfolio to land that dream job.
You can use what you learn on this programme in other areas of media and communications - such as research, editing, marketing and public relations.
To find out about the Post Graduate Diploma: Journalism and Media Studies course, visit the African Media Matrix (Upper Prince Alfred Road) at 13h00 on Wednesday 26 September. Enjoy free pizza and chat about our course and the possibility of a career in journalism and communications.
Limited scholarships are available to qualifying students.
