Fieldworkers Required

Prof Michelle Williams of the Department of Sociology At Wits University funded by the Norwegian Research Council is embarking on a prestigious research project titled:
Self-help or social transformation? The role of women in local governance in Kerala and South Africa.
The study will enquire to what extent women participate in different forms of local civil-society organizations and in local government and what implications this has for democratic practices and institutions where women have the ability to exercise their rights and voice their demands.
The study will require two (preferably) female postgraduate students who can speak Xhosa to conduct fieldwork in Keiskammahoek. Fieldworkers will have to spend a period of approximately 10 - 20 fieldwork days , on and off, in Keiskammahoek, expenses will be covered and will be remunerated at R375 a day.
