Academic Services
Academic Development Centre
At some universities, the Academic Development Centre (ADC) focuses on supporting students who are in need of help by running additional tutorials and extra classes. At Rhodes, the ADC works with lecturers and departments to try to ensure that all students have access to the sort of help they need in order to complete the tasks set in their mainstream classes. This might involve helping staff to design teaching materials, tutorial programmes or even whole courses. While the ADC does not offer direct help to students, it does aim to support students by contributing to the quality of teaching throughout the entire University. Although the ADC focuses on working with staff, a number of Departments employ Academic Development Practitioners who do work directly with students. Students should enquire in Departments/Faculties to see if this sort of help is available if they feel they need it. Director: Mrs C M Boughey
