Doctoral supervisors from African universities share valuable ideas in Stellenbosch
DAAD funding allowed the Centre for Research on Evaluation, Science and Technology (CREST) at Stellenbosch University to develop and offer an online course for postgraduate supervisors across Africa. The course is now being offered for the third time and has benefited from inputs from Rhodes University’s Chrissie Boughey and Sioux Mckenna, who developed and teach one of the modules. Recently alumni of the course gathered at Stellenbosch University and Chrissie and Sioux joined the team for a few days of lively discussions and workshops.
 
CHERTL have a long history of engagement with supervision development initiatives. The Strengthening Postgraduate Supervision course (http://postgradsupervision.com) has been offered more than 60 times in South African universities and the open access resource base for supervisors and postgraduate scholars, Enhancing Postgraduate Environments (http://postgradenvironments.com) continues to grow with many thousands of hits on its materials.
