Christopher Olurotimi Omotoso

 

Christopher Olurotimi Omotoso was born in the city of Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State, Nigeria on 6th day of February, 1964. He studied French language and Music at the Federal College of Education, Okene. He was retained as instructor in the department of music in 1993 and remains there till to date. He got his B.A. Ed. in Music in 1999 from Delta State University and M.A. in Performing Arts with stress in Music from the University of Ilorin, Nigeria. He is currently working on his PhD at the same university. He is the current head of the department of music where he lectures. He writes many songs and few opera, he founded the opera unit of the department and has been its director since inception. He plays piano, organ and trumpet. He was the initiator of the Conference of Music Educators in Nigeria (COMEN), a body responsible for the promotion of music education in Nigeria. In 2014 he received the Ambassador of Music Education Award from the Conference of Music Educators in Nigeria (COMEN). He is married and blessed with two kids.
