Dr. Toyin Emmanuel AKINDE is an artist, ceramicist, material explorer, designer, drawer, scholar and teacher. He began his tertiary teaching career in 2006 in the Department of Fine and Applied Arts, Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, Oyo State, Nigeria, his alma mater, as a Teaching Assistant (TA). He has since progressed to the position of Lecture I (LI). 

Dr. Akinde attended Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, Nigeria where he obtained Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) degree in Fine and Applied Arts in 2002, Master of Technology degree in Applied Art (Ceramics and Glass) in 2010 and Doctor of Philosophy degree in Applied Art (Ceramics and Glass) in 2016 respectively. He is a member of the Society of Nigerian Artists (sna) and Ceramics Researchers Association of Nigeria (CeRAN).

He has taught Fundamentals of Drawing, Basic Drawing, Still Life Drawing, Ceramics, thrown Pottery, Ceramic Mosaic, Ceramic Process and Technique, Ceramic Theory, Ceramic Kiln Architecture and Firing Processes. 

Dr. Akinde is Nigeria’s first Master’s degree holder in Ceramics and Glass. His scholarship cut across Ceramic history, materials, applications, experimentations, glazes, firing, logo, theory and design in Nigeria. He has to his credit, nine journals in peer review and double blind review publications with good Impact Factor rating; six offshore and three onshore; and one contribution to edited book. Dr. Akinde has taken part in many group exhibitions, two creative works, several editorial works and several conferences and seminars locally, nationally and internationally.
