Three of the four students are from Prof Brett Pletschke’s (ESP) laboratory in the Department of Biochemistry and Microbiology – Mr Samkelo Malgas, Mr Mpho Mafa and Mr Brian Mathibe with Mr Dalitso Chindipha. The aspiring entrepreneurs behind Afrinzygen, an envisioned company aimed at producing and formulating hydrolytic enzyme(s) cocktails on an industrial scale to help farmers reduce their feed costs, won the campus stage of the Hult Prize challenge ? setting them a step closer to win a $1 million award in seed capital as they will be attending the regional stage of the competition in Nairobi, Kenya, on the 9th of March 2018.
