Lecturer in Chemistry and NMR specialist
Pierre Kempgens is the NMR specialist at the Department of Chemistry at Rhodes University, South Africa. His research interests are in the development and application of techniques permitting to increase the ratio signal-to-noise in NMR experiments, in the structural characterization of materials by solid-state NMR and in relaxation processes in liquid-state NMR. Current specific interests include the application of COSY-type NMR experiments to quadrupolar nuclei, multiexponential relaxation in COSY-type NMR experiments and differential line broadening due to the presence of quadrupolar-CSA interference. He holds a BSc in Physical Chemistry (1992), an MSc in Physical Chemistry (1994), and a PhD in NMR (1997) from the Université Louis Pasteur in Strasbourg, France.
