Dr Sizwe Mabizela was inaugurated as Rhodes University’s Vice Chancellor on Friday the 27th of February 2015 at a colourful ceremony held at Settlers Monument, Grahamstown. Dr Mabizela took his oath of office in front of a packed audience that was filled with fellow academics, staff and students from all over South Africa. Dr Mabizela makes history by becoming Rhodes first ever black African Vice Chancellor. He brings with him vast amounts of experience and leadership having initially been the Deputy Vice Chancellor before his appointment to Vice Chancellor. We all wish him a prosperous and fruitful term in office.
