CIRU student in Top 100 Rhodes students

The Confucius Institute was proud to hear that one of its students was selected as a Top 100 student for 2009. The Rhodes Top 100 student list was selected by the Oppidan Press and Dean of Students office and recognizes students for their various achievements at Rhodes.

Daniel Charvat was nominated for the Top 100 list by the Confucius Institute, and was successfully awarded a place in the list. Daniel has shown a great commitment towards Chinese Studies 1 this year and is an asset to the Confucius Institute.

He has performed with excellence both in class work and in extracurricular activities. He has demonstrated a strong leadership in organizing activities and class work. He is willing to help those in need. As one of the "Chinese Bridge" competitors on behalf of Rhodes at the Chinese proficiency context that was held at the University of Western Cape in April early this year, he was among the most impressive category of competitors. He is also a good learner and takes his course work very conscientiously. He has made remarkable progress in his Chinese studies. A noticeable proof of this is that he has now mastered over 800 Chinese characters since he started to learn Chinese 8 months ago.
