Rhodes meets with Chinese Ambassador

On Monday, 8 June, Prof. Marius Vermaak, Dean: International Office of Rhodes, and Prof. Ma Yue, from the Rhodes University Confucius Institute, met with the Chinese Ambassador, Zhong Jianhua, in Pretoria. The establishment of the brand-new Confucius Institute at Rhodes was discussed, as well as the plans for the development of the Confucius Institute.

Ambassador Zhong was impressed with the progress made by Rhodes University, and was happy with the plans for the future. He offered his support for many of the future projects of the Confucius Institute, and suggested certain Chinese businesses in South Africa as potential contacts for Rhodes students who study both Chinese and Business/Communications.

All in all, it was a productive meeting, and the future of the Rhodes University Confucius Institute is sure to be filled with many exciting projects.
