Donica Walton has been a student in the Psychology department for 5 years, completing both her undergraduate and postgraduate honours degree. This is her first year as a member of the Critical Studies in Sexualities and Reproduction (CSSR) research unit. She is currently doing her Master’s under the supervision of Dr Tracey Feltham-King and co-supervision of Professor Catriona MacLeod.
Her research focuses on the narratives of South African women who use social media platforms to engage in discussions about gender-based violence (GBV). This is an important study given the increase in gender-based violence and the use of social media platforms for social activism movements. Her study shows the great interest she has in the human rights of women and their bodily integrity.
