The course is designed to provide teachers with a theoretical background to and practical application of the use of information and communication technology (ICT) for educational purposes. There will be a balance between content knowledge of how to use ICT’s in education and the associated technical skills to support this process, along with a critical appraisal of the appropriateness of using ICT in education.
The BEd ICT is a part-time course run over three years – It is offered through approximately twenty five days of contact time per year – arranged in block sessions over long weekends or during school holidays.
The BEd ICT is open to practising teachers in any phase/level. Applicants should hold a three year teachers’ qualification such as a Diploma in Education (JPTD/ SPTD) or higher and have a working knowledge of computers – i.e. basic computer literacy skills.
PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS NOT A COMPUTER LITERACY COURSE.

The BEd ICT is at Level 7 and successful completion of the course enables teachers to apply for further study at Level 8 (BEd Honours).
