Celebrating Ling graduates

The 2011 graduation ceremony was an extremely proud moment for Rhodes Linguistics: lecturer Sally Hunt graduated with her PhD, her student Leigh Crymble got her MA with distinction, and five out of nine Honours graduates achieved distinctions.  Cathleen O'Grady accomplished the unheard-of feat of completing two full Honours degrees (in Linguistics and Philosophy) in one year. Five Linguistics 3 students achieved distinctions, and four of those are continuing with Honours at Rhodes this year. The department's annual Graduate Reception outside the Drostdy Barracks on Saturday 9 April was a very happy event: a chance for the graduates to catch up on how their classmates have done since leaving the department, and for graduates' families to meet some of the department staff. Ian Siebörger gave a speech congratulating all the graduates on their achievements, and there were plenty of opportunities for laughs as great times in the department were remembered.
