The 19th AYGS Conference served as a dynamic gathering place where emerging scholars showcased their research findings and contributed valuable perspectives to discussions about Africa's inclusive and sustainable development trajectory. Its sub-themes included: governance, peace, and security in enabling Africa’s inclusive and sustainable development; sustainable agriculture and transformed food systems; climate change action and just transition; and leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) to drive Africa’s development priorities.


Through this platform, young scholars engaged in meaningful dialogue with policymakers and practitioners, creating collaborative spaces where collective expertise has been leveraged to address pressing challenges while identifying opportunities for transformative growth. The Conference catalysed the generation of fresh insights and innovative solutions, translating academic discourse into actionable policy recommendations that can drive meaningful change across the African continent.


The 19th AYGS Conference represented a significant opportunity for emerging scholars to contribute to Africa’s development trajectory. By addressing critical challenges and leveraging opportunities, the conference generated new knowledge, informed policy decisions, and fostered research and innovation. The collaboration between the FEAHLC, HSRC, NRF, PASGR, and other partners underscored the importance of interdisciplinary research and capacity building in achieving the aspirations of Agenda 2063. This event not only empowered young scholars but also revealed the multi-stakeholder potential to drive transformative change toward a more inclusive and sustainable future for Africa.
