New members of staff may apply to be allocated a housing unit for six months from the date on which they are appointed (availability and extension subject to demand). Married post-graduate students may be allocated housing for one year in the first instance. A formal lease agreement is signed by both parties for all University transit accommodation. The units vary from 1 to 3 bedroom apartments (freestanding houses or flat) and tenants has an option to request to have the unit furnished or unfurnished. Rental amounts are based on market related tariffs. The Transit Housing Office encourages staff members staying in transit housing to consider that they are part of a community and are encouraged to make use of the University facilitates, such as gymnasium, tennis courts, library, swimming pool, etc.
