Summary:

For more than two decades already Kinshasa has experienced fast population growth due to the rural exodus for various reasons and the consequences of this situation are the increasing urbanization without norm which leads to a high demand of drinking water on the one hand and climate change on the other hand due to rapid land use/land cover. Climate change poses uncertainties to the supply and management of water resources because the climate change may be felt in the aquifers at hydrodynamic and hydrochemical levels. That's why, I decided to work in this project in order to show the degree of groundwater deterioration in terms of quantity and quality as a tool for proper groundwater planning, management, protection and decision of Kinshasa capital aquifers, by using Visual Modflow Flex which is able to solve the three-dimensional saturated groundwater equation using the finite difference approach. After this project, I would put my time in the training of young people for the Integrated Water Resources Management.

Research:

Currently, am a PhD student at the Higher National School for Hydraulics (ENSH)/Algeria under the African Water Resources Mobility Network (AWaRMN) scholarship where I am doing my thesis in Groundwater Modeling with a focus on the assessment of the impacts of climate change on the quantity and quality of groundawater under increasing urbanization (Case of Kinshasa/DRC).  I have a Specialized Master of Civil Engineering in “Integrated Water Resources Management” issued by the “College of Engineering and Technology (CoET)”, Department of Water Resources Engineering / University of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Specialization in Hydrological and Hydrogeological Modeling within the framework of Integrated Water Resources Management sanctioned by a joint thesis between the University of Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) / Department of Water Resources Engineering as Waternet / SADC scholarship holder and the Department of Geosciences, Faculty of Sciences, University of Kinshasa, DR Congo in my capacity as Teaching and Research Assistant. BSc Degree (Bac + 5) in Aplplied Geology, Geotechnical and Hydrogeology Option/ Department of Geosciences, Faculty of Sciences, University of Kinshasa, D.R. Congo.
