Kgebetli Moele was born in the Limpopo province in 1978. A novelist and fiction writer, Moele has worked as a theatre producer and creative writing teacher, and started writing as an outlet to define himself. His debut novel, Room 207 (2006) won the 2007 Herman Charles Bosman Debut Novel Award and the University of Johannesburg Debut Novel Award. It has since been translated into French and Italian. In 2007, Moele received an Honorary mention at the Noma Awards and in the same year, was short-listed for the Commonwealth Literary Award in the Africa region. For his second literary offering, The Book of the Dead (2009), Moele received the 2010 South African Literary Award. His third novel "Untitled" (2013) has been described by the Mail & Guardian as “a narrative of considerable complexity and depth.”
