The most frequently asked questions we hear relate to the role and identity of Makhanda, the leader of the 1819 Xhosa attack on British military headquarters in Grahamstown. Two hundred years later, the city was renamed after him, making people curious to know more about him. The Isikhumbuzo Applied History Unit has been involved in seeking answers in a number of ways.
