Introduction

The earwigs of South Africa are currently classified into four families. The list of species is compiled from Hincks (1956), who used the term "South Africa" to mean southern Africa. This list is restricted to species occurring in the Republic of South Africa. The distributions and the periods of adult activity are taken from Hincks (1956).
