Introduction

The order Trichoptera is represented in South Africa by seventeen families. This catalogue contains some new species records and notes the existence of species awaiting description (E-mail the author for details). Synonyms and dates of publication of taxa are generally not include.

Distributions are indicated according to the twelve hydrobiological regions (A-M) proposed by AD Harrison (1959).
