Whilst working in Grahamstown these few years, Jo-Nette Le Kay has been working towards the completion of her Master’s in Music degree.
This Recital will be one aspect of what is required for completion. In the past she did the role of Donna Elvira in a Pretoria Symphony production of Don Giovanni as the other practical component for this degree. In this recital she will visit repertoire of some of her favorite composers like Mozart, Donizetti ,Puccini, Rachmaninoff, Brahms and Obradors. Highlights of this recital is the ‘Springwaters’ and Vocalise of Rachmaninoff and the feisty Spanish Song Cycle of Fernando Obradors. Other pieces are from Lucia di Lammermoor (which her theses is on), La Boheme and The Marriage of Figaro. She will be accompanied by Paul Ferreira, who is based in Gauteng. He is a free- lance accompanist and vocal coach and has accompanied many Opera companies and Soloists nationwide. This will be another wonderful project for these two musicians to do together, as they have done many performance projects together in the Gauteng area.
