This year the annual ICPP Conference took place in Istanbul, Turkey from the 22nd -27th June and was attended by several NIC/Chemistry staff and students. Distinguished Professor Tebello Nyokong was one of the invited speakers and gave a lecture on “Design of Phthalocyanines with Improved Photophysical Properties”.
Other staff members who presented at the conference were Dr Jonathan Britton (NIC Manager), Dr John Mack (Nanotechnology Specialist) and Dr Samson Khene (Physical Chemistry Lecturer). Doctoral students who presented were Mr Adedayo Fashina, Mr Olukayode Sanusi, Ms Racheal Ogbodu, Ms Jessica Taylor and Mr Edward Sekhosana.
Topics covered at the conference included the physics, chemistry, biology, material science, engineering, nanotechnology, medical and biomedical or industrial applications of porphyrins, phthalocyanines and related macrocycles.
