COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

Community Engagement Pic

Our interactions with our community are an important part of who we are and what we do. Most of the postgraduate students and several staff members are engaged with the community through learner and teacher programmes, lectures and public engagement, and educational demonstrations about some aspects of our work and equipment in the NIC.  Students also volunteer to assist with practicals during the National Science Festival.  The Khanya Maths and Science Club are one of the main projects.

Mr John Lombardo is part of a non-profit organization that runs in Port Elizabeth. It is an art program but they also have extra classes for students in reading, writing, and maths.  Mr Lombardo and 4 scholars came to visit Prof Nyokong’s Lab and the NIC recently and the scholars were very impressed with the equipment.
