Biography
Dr Lovemore's passion for teaching started when she was still at school. She persued her dream career by studying education at Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University. Thereafter, she taught intermediate phase subjects, including class music and violin. She combined her interest in mathematics and music in her MEd studies, followed by her PhD, both at Rhodes. Her research looked at ways to integrate music and mathematics for fraction learning in the primary grades. Dr Lovemore's research continues to explore curriculum integration as well as mathematical knoweldge for teaching, number sense and mental calculation strategies. Her goal is to support students and learners in growing confidence in their ability to do mathematics.
