Biography

Callie Grant is a Professor in the Department of Primary and Early Childhood Education at Rhodes University, Makhanda, South Africa. A nationally rated researcher, Callie’s teaching, research and community engagement is predominantly in the field of Educational Leadership and Management (ELM). In particular, her research interests include distributed leadership, democratic leadership, teacher leadership, learner leadership as well as school leadership preparation and development. She is currently also interested in formative interventionist research in the tradition of Cultural, Historical Activity Theory. Her other research interests include leadership in higher education, doctoral education and models of postgraduate supervision. Other than ELM programmes, Callie also enjoys teaching Curriulum Studies, Pedagogy and Research Design.
