DOCTORAL APPLICATION FORMS
Prospective applicants for Doctoral degrees should familiarize themselves with the relevant Departmental and Faculty Rules and Regulations before contacting the university. You are generally encouraged to establish contact with the relevant department, to ascertain supervision capacity in their particular area, before submitting a formal application. Prior support from a prospective supervisor and the relevant Head of Department is essential for higher degree applications in the Faculties of Science and Pharmacy
ACCEPTANCE OF OFFER FORMS
NB: THESE FORMS ARE ONLY FOR THE USE OF APPLICANTS WHO HAVE BEEN OFFERED A PLACE ON ONE OF OUR PROGRAMMES. FIRST SUBMIT AN APPLICATION FORM AND ONLY USE THIS FORM TO ACCEPT AN OFFER ONCE AN OFFER HAS BEEN MADE.
FORMS FOR DOCTORAL CANDIDATES
Besides the normal monitoring of progress on research projects by supervisors and Heads of Department, the university has a formal Policy on Supervision of Master's and PhD theses which requires students and supervisors to complete an annual progress report as outlined in the staff section. These reports are collated by the Deans and a summary presented to the Vice-Chancellor.
Students wishing to upgrade from a Master's to PhD are required to present a comprehensive report on progress including evidence of research outputs together with a full motivation for consideration by the Faculty Higher Degrees or Upgrade Committee which makes a recommendation to Senate.
WHEN SUBMITTING A THESIS FOR EXAMINATION
THE INTENTION TO SUBMIT FORM SHOULD BE SUBMITTED TWO MONTHS BEFORE YOU INTEND TO SUBMIT YOUR THESIS FOR EXAMINATION.
THE ELECTRONIC ACCESS FORM SHOULD ACCOMPANY THE LOOSE-LEAF COPIES OF YOUR THESIS AFTER THE EXAMINATION PROCESS HAS BEEN COMPLETED.
