Justice

Justice is a fundamental aspect of any society that aspires to be fair, equitable and peaceful. By strengthening the justice system, facilitating practices of restorative justice, and promoting peace, it is possible to create a just and inclusive society where everyone has equal access to the justice system, and conflicts are resolved in a peaceful and equitable manner.  Advocating for justice involves ensuring that all individuals are treated fairly and equally under the law, have access to legal remedies and mechanisms, and can participate fully in the justice system without discrimination. Justice encompasses both procedural and substantive dimensions, and it is important to address both aspects in order to promote a just and inclusive society. Challenging injustices involves particular focus on gender equality and children’s rights.

Gender Equality

The goal of Gender Equality is to achieve a society where all individuals, regardless of gender, have equal access to opportunities, resources, and rights. This involves promoting and protecting the rights of women and girls, and eliminating all forms of gender-based violence. The first objective aims to ensure that women and girls are free from discrimination and violence, and have the same rights and opportunities as men and boys. This includes creating a safe and supportive environment for women and girls, and promoting gender-sensitive policies and practices.

The second objective is to ensure women's full and effective participation and equal opportunities in society, and end all forms of discrimination against them. This involves promoting women's leadership and decision-making roles in all spheres of life, including in politics, education, and the workplace. It also involves addressing the structural barriers and social norms that limit women's participation and opportunities, such as unequal pay, lack of access to education and healthcare, and gender stereotypes.

By achieving gender equality, it is possible to create a more just and equitable society, where all individuals can reach their full potential and contribute to the development of their communities and the world at large.

Children’s Rights

Children's Rights aims  to promote and protect the rights of children, while also eliminating harmful practices that are inflicted upon them. This involves creating an environment that is safe and nurturing for children, where their rights are respected and protected.

Promoting and protecting the rights of children includes ensuring that children have access to education, healthcare, and protection from abuse, exploitation, and neglect, as well as eliminating harmful practices such as child labor, child marriage, and child trafficking.

It should also be ensured that children have equal opportunities in society and are free from discrimination - this involves promoting gender equality and empowering children to participate in decision-making processes that affect their lives. By promoting and protecting the rights of children, it is possible to create a future where every child can reach their full potential and thrive in a safe and supportive environment.

Equal Access

Equal access to justice aims to promote equitable access to justice for all individuals by strengthening the justice system and promoting restorative justice practices. Additionally, the goal seeks to promote peace and seek an end to conflict and violence. This goal involves promoting a more just and peaceful society where individuals have equal access to justice and conflict is resolved through peaceful means

Strengthening the justice system to promote equitable access to justice involves  ensuring that all individuals have equal access to legal representation and an experience of the justice system that is fair and just. Practices of restorative justice must be facilitated and repairing harm caused by crime or conflict and restoring relationships must be prioritised. This approach focuses on the needs of the victim and the offender, promoting accountability and healing.

The promotion of peace and seeking an end to conflict and violence through peaceful conflict resolution and addressing the root causes of violence and conflict should be aimed for.
