Currently, there are 34 students registered in our Masters and PhD programmes - 19 Masters students and 15 PhD students. Besides South Africa, these students come from a range of countries in Africa, including Botswana, Nigeria, Uganda and Zimbabwe. Many of these students are registered on a part-time basis, and continue to live and work in their country of origin. Others are based at the university, working full-time on their thesis. All programmes involve thesis work exclusively, without any course work.
The Department seeks to develop a supportive and vibrant intellectual environment within which students can effectively pursue their thesis work. The range of thesis topics presently in the Department reflects the diversity of interests and expertise amongst our academic staff.
