IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT VOTING

Did you know that you may still vote in the national election on the 22nd April EVEN IF YOU DID NOT register to vote in Grahamstown?

While you will not be able to cast your vote for the local provincial election, YOU CAN STILL VOTE in the NATIONAL election. All you need to do is COMPLETE the IEC's 24A form, and this will enable you to cast your vote - as long as your name does is listed on the national voting roll. So even if you originally registered elsewhere (e.g.East London, Johannesburg, Knysa, etc.)

And remember: you MUST have your ID book. Below is the relevant extract from the election information website:

http://www.sabceducation.co.za/xdemocracy/vote_q&a.html

"For the National and Provincial 2009 Elections, you will be able to vote at any of the approximately 20 000 voting stations across South Africa. Ensure that you have proof of registration (bar-coded sticker). Verify your registration details to confirm if your name appears on the voters' roll by calling 0800 11 8000 toll free from a landline or SMS your ID number to 32810 (R1 per SMS). At the voting station on election day, you will be asked to complete a section 24A form. If you are outside your province where you have registered you will only be able to vote in the national election and not the provincial election."
