4th Term Counselling Centre Group Discussions

The Rhodes Counselling Centre will be running a number of new, short-term discussion groups in the 4th term dealing with study skills, healthy relationships, stress management and general coping skills. For details see below:

HEALTHY RELATIONSHIPS

Missed the first time round? The last Healthy Relationships group starts soon! Would you like to improve the relationships in your life? This workshop explores relationship dynamics and how we interact with others.

Topics Covered:

  • 08 October 2009 The 5 languages of love
  • 15 October 2009 How to be heard? Assertiveness training
  • 22 October 2009 Conflict resolution: Compromise vs win-lose
  • 29 October 2009 What are my expectations in a relationship?
  • 05 November 2009 What does a toxic relationship look like?

This is a 5 session group, places are limited.

SELF-REFLECTION THROUGH CREATIVE ART

Workshops will be held in a relaxed atmosphere, in groups of no more than eight participants. A variety of art media will be available to explore self-growth, self-understanding and self-acceptance. No artistic skill or prior experience is needed. Just bring yourself/ves! 

Workshops will be presented on a weekly basis on Wednesdays from 23 September - 15h00-16h30
(Although it is not a requirement that all workshops are attended, it would be beneficial to commit to a series of workshops).

IMPROVE YOUR STUDY SKILLS

Do you want to improve your study skills and learn better study methods? Join this group to beat exam stress.

Areas to be covered include:

  • Listening & note-taking
  • Reading & memory
  • Time management & procrastination
  • Exam writing
  • Stress management & relaxation

Dates and Times: Thursdays: 11am -12pm OR Fridays: 2pm – 3pm
