IMPORTANT NOTICE: MATRICULATION EXEMPTION OR FINAL NSC CERTIFICATES

All students at Rhodes University are required to produce a certified copy of their Matriculation Certificates. A certified copy of the certificate should be handed in to the Student Bureau, Eden Grove before the end of the third term.

South African students will have their matriculation certificates issued by the Education Department concerned. These certificates are sent automatically to each student by the appropriate education authority

These certificates should not be confused with the Statement of Symbols which as issued to students on completion of their examinations.

Foreign students must apply for their Exemption certificates through the Student Bureau. You will need your original O-Level and A-level certificates and your passport.

If you have not produced this exemption certificate, permission to write the end of year examinations may be withheld and students who have not produced their certificates will also have their registration status changed to “special student registered for non-degree purposes.

Students completing their degrees will not be allowed to graduate unless we have a certified copy of their matric exemption on file.

Please do not ignore this notice and follow the correct procedures if you have to apply for an exemption. If you think you have previously submitted this document to the Student Bureau, please call in to see Mrs Wicks in the Student Bureau rather than to ignore this request.

Should you have any queries or problems please do not hesitate to contact the Student Bureau
