Summary biography:

I am an Associate Professor in the Department of Animal Biology (Hydrobiology Unit) at the Federal University of Technology, Minna, Nigeria, where I have worked since 2010. I earned my B.Sc. (Ed) (Hons) in Biology from the University of Benin with Second Class Upper honors, and completed my M.Tech. and Ph.D (Hydrobiology) at the Federal University of Technology, Minna, where I graduated with Distinction. My research focuses on hydrobiology, fisheries and aquatic sciences, with over 30 published journal articles, invited talks, and presentations at local and international conferences, including the Sixth International Symposium on GIS/Spatial Analysis in Fishery and Aquatic Sciences in Tampa, Florida.I am actively engaged in professional associations such as the, Society for Freshwater Science, Freshwater Biological Association of Nigeria, Biotechnology Society of Nigeria, Fisheries Society of Nigeria and Zoological Society of Nigeria. I served as Assistant Coordinator of the African Water Resource Mobility Network (FUT, Minna) and currently serve as Coordinator TRACEEP for FUT, Minna. Internationally, I contribute as an External Expert Peer Reviewer for the SDGs Pilot Call 2023, endorsed by the Global Research Council. I also review for Scientific Africa (Elsevier) ,2022 to date, International Journal for Applied Biological Research (IJABR) (2022 to date) and Fison Conference Book of Proceeding (2016 to date).

Research Interests:

My research portfolio includes water quality studies, pollutant effects on aquatic biota, biodiversity, fish feed improvement, heavy metal assessment, and bioremediation. I have published over 30 journal articles, delivered invited talks, and presented at both local and international conferences, including the Sixth International Symposium on GIS/Spatial Analysis in Fishery and Aquatic Sciences in Tampa, Florida. My research focuses on aquatic ecology, ecosystem management, bioremediation, and ecotoxicology, fisheries with extensive studies on water bodies in Niger State and North Central Nigeria. With over 14 years of teaching and research experience, I have supervised numerous undergraduate and postgraduate projects, including 5 Master’s and 3 PhD graduates, and currently mentor additional postgraduate students. I teach courses across undergraduate and postgraduate levels, covering topics such as Aquaculture, Marine Biology, Fisheries Biology, Applied Hydrobiology, Aquatic Ecology, Limnology, and Tropical Aquaculture.
