Pierre Faure
Alexander Pierre FAURE, MA, DPhil (Economics), Dip (Agric), Stock Exchange Membership Exams. Foord Professor in Investments, Rhodes University. After university Pierre joined the SA Reserve Bank, where he was involved in the compilation of monetary statistics and, later, in the execution of monetary policy. He later entered the private sector, where he principally worked as an Interest Rate Analyst. He was involved in starting South Africa's 4th discount house (a specialised bank), which later transmuted into Securities Investment Bank. In 2000 he became a very happy academic, as Investec Chair in Money and Banking and, later, as Foord Chair Investments (where he still is). He has written extensively in the area of monetary economics.
