National Science Week is a countrywide celebration of science initiated in 2000 by the Department of Science and Technology, and involves various stakeholders conducting science activities at multiple sites in all nine provinces simultaneously during one week of the year.
Scifest Africa, South Africa's National Science Festival was established in 1996 to promote the public awareness, engagement, and understanding of science, technology, engineering, mathematics and innovation (STEMI).
National Science Week will continue festivities this week with The Big 5km Walk/Run which will place on Wednesday 8 August 2012, in Grahamstown, Eastern Cape
