New graduates!

On 11 and 12 April our 2018 classes graduated!

Twenty six students obtained their BSc degrees and four of them achieved Distinctions in Geology: Dennis Dube, Naadiya Hoosen, Emmanuella Ikwen and Edmore Marima.

Eight students have successfully completed our 4th year, graduating with BSc Honours. Most of them either already have started their careers in the minerals industry or carry on with their studies towards MSc degrees.

Our MSc Programme in Exploration Geology has graduated three students this year: Emmanuel Aganze, Oriel Nekabelane and Kakunauua Uazeua.

Last not least, the Department of Geology is pleased to announce a new PhD graduate! Charles F. Kankuzi graduated after completing his thesis on the genesis and age of gem bearing pegmatites in Malawi. He is only the third Malawian national to hold a PhD in Geology. Charles recently has joined the Department of Geology at the University of Malawi as a lecturer.

Nolitha Gcakasi and Edmore Marima share the ED Mountain Award for their field reports in the 3rd year field course. Edmore Marima also received the Leslie Kent Award for best performance of a 3rd year student carrying on in our Geology Honours Program.

Congratulations to all of you!
