Rhodes Professor of Political Studies Louise Vincent has won a grant from the National Institute for the Humanities and Social Sciences and the Indian Council of Social Research for a project on Higher Education as a ‘Public Good’ – Promoting Inclusion in Higher Education in India and South Africa.

The lead collaborators are Professor Papia Sengupta of the Centre for Political Studies at Jawaharlal Nehru University in Delhi and Professor Louise Vincent of Rhodes University in South Africa.

The project will look at cultures and practices of research and will ask whether existing research cultures serve to perpetuate the marginalisation  of some kinds of academics while advantaging others.

The aim of the grant is to strengthen bilateral collaboration between academics in the Humanities and Social Sciences in India and South Africa.
