Muyon Mafulu was born and raised in The South of Johannesburg. She recently graduated with her BFA at Rhodes University and is studying towards her Masters of Art History (MA).

Muyon's research is based on ancestral rituals within the Democratic Republic of Congo. Her research is linked to her own mixed-race identity and her ancestral linkage to the Congo. Her work aims to trace her history and identity and connects the past and future of art within Congo to her research. She aims to bring light to a world of art that has been left undiscovered.
