The Enactus Rhodes University team has made an inspiring return to the national stage, reaching the semi-finals of the prestigious 2025 Enactus South Africa National Exposition, held on Thursday, 17 July, just one year after the chapter was revived.

After being inactive for about two years, Enactus Rhodes University was brought back to life in July 2024 through an intervention by the Career Centre’s Student Entrepreneurship Programme, under the guidance of the programme’s coordinator, Mr Thobani Mesani, alongside the Rhodes Business School’s Mr Thabang Moleko. In just twelve months, the team rebuilt from the ground up, reignited its presence on campus, and prepared to compete nationally with a renewed sense of purpose and vision.

Representing their enterprise, Bridget’s Learning Hub, which won second place in the Social Impact Category at the 2024 EDHE Intervarsity National Competition, the team impressed judges and audiences alike with their commitment to using entrepreneurship as a force for social good.

In their semi-final league, the Rhodes University Enactus team achieved 1st place in two thematic categories:

  • 2025 Harmony Entrepreneurship & Business Solutions for Community Development Enactus Award
  • 2025 MTN Digital Transformation for Community Development Enactus Award

These recognitions celebrate innovative business models that address community challenges and embrace digital transformation to create sustainable impact.
Bridget’s Learning Hub, the enterprise showcased at the exposition, addresses a critical need in the South African education landscape by providing accessible educational support, bridging literacy gaps through tutoring, and empowering learners to reach their full potential. Its strong performance this year builds on the momentum of its earlier success at the EDHE Intervarsity.

It would be remiss not to recognise the 2024/2025 Enactus Rhodes Chairperson, Ms Gamuchirai Kafumphe, a third-year accounting student, whose leadership and dedication saw the Rhodes Enactus team rebuild and get back on the map. Equal recognition goes to Ms Bridget Mtetwa, a second-year Master’s in Pharmacy student, whose vision and innovation gave birth to Bridget’s Learning Hub.

While the team achieved fourth place, their journey stands as a testament to what can be achieved in a short time with dedication, collaboration, and a shared commitment to positive change. The Rhodes University community celebrates their achievement and looks forward to supporting its continued growth through the many enterprises that will emerge from the chapter, and the social impact it will create, in the years ahead.
