Vice-Chancellor’s Circular: 27 July 2015 Intervarsity 2015

The purpose of Intervarsity is for the universities in the Eastern Cape to meet and display their sporting talent, and for camaraderie among peers.

On Thursday 10 June 2010, the Council of the University, met to determine the future of Rhodes’ participation in Intervarsity. Council provided the authority for Intervarsity to go ahead under the conditions outlined below. Should these conditions be breached, there shall be NO further participation in Intervarsity in future.

  •  Students must NOT engage in conduct which breaches the Student Disciplinary Code.
  • Students MUST carry their student cards at all times and cooperate with officials requesting proof of identification.
  • Students may NOT DISPLAY offensive or obscene writing or graphic images on their bodies or clothing.
  • Only one social event linked to Intervarsity is permitted.
  • Sports matches WILL be stopped in the event of anti-social behaviour.
  • No visiting in University residences is allowed during the Intervarsity weekend.

 NOTE THAT:

  1. Students who breach any of the rules contained in the Student Disciplinary Code WILL be prosecuted.
  2. The Student disciplinary Code is NOT limited to the geographical jurisdiction of the university’s campus, but extends to all areas in town.
