 Music, culture & history: Jazz & African-American music (MCH 1 JZ)

Based on the content of the second semester of the former History and Appreciation of Music (HAM)) course this half-credit, one semester course provides an introduction to the history, aesthetics, and politics of jazz and related African-American musics. MCH 1 JZ is taught in the second semester. Lectures take place in the Music Department’s Beethoven Room onMondays at 8:40; Tuesdays at 9:35; Wednesdays at 10:30;Thursdays at 11:25 and Fridays at 7:45. Tutorial times will be confirmed at the first lecture.
