The official launch of the Oxford Handbook of the South African Economy was held online on the 6th of April 2022.
The keynote speaker was President Cyril Ramaphosa, who spoke in glowing terms about the importance of the book. Professor Mike Rogan of the Neil Aggett Labour Studies Unit (NALSU) at Rhodes University, Makhanda (Grahamstown) co-authored a chapter on the South African informal economy with Caroline Skinner of UCT and Women in Informal Employment: Globalising and Organising (WIEGO). This collaboration reflects NALSU’s ongoing links to WIEGO. Edited by Arkebe Oqubay, Fiona Tregenna and Imraan Valodia, the Oxford Handbook is set to be the standard reference for years to come.
