The Centre's goal is to produce a new generation of postgraduate public intellectuals and researchers who can lead efforts against a mounting tide of anti-intellectualism, which threatens to undermine efforts to forge a national knowledge economy.

Rhodes University has carved a respectable niche in the higher education research in South Africa and the continent. Research is also our strategic trajectory to build an even stronger and attractive research international institution. The main project in this area is the construction of a customised, modern Post-Graduate centre. We are hoping to raise R55-R64 million for this project.
