IMBUMBA and The President’s Award WANTS YOU!!!

IMBUMBA (Community Engagement Networking Agency) and The President’s Award (TPA) is calling on all: Passionate, Enthusiastic and Adventurous young leaders at Rhodes!!!
We are looking for you to implement TPA’s programme at Rhodes!
TPA for Youth Empowerment is a registered non-profit organisation, which has been operating in South Africa since 1983. Their mission, with the assistance of adult volunteer leaders, is to empower young people between the ages of 14 and 25, by providing a balanced, non-competitive framework for self-development that will increase their self-esteem and enhance their capacity to achieve in whatever context they find themselves: enabling them to become responsible active citizens within their communities.
If you interested in being a part of an internationally recognised community engagement programme? Participating in exciting physical recreation activities, going on adventurous journeys, volunteering and providing leadership capacity in implementing a valued project?

PLEASE NOTE THE BELOW SELECTION CRITERION

The selection for the TPA steering committee for 2009 would be guided by the following:
Committee must be driven by five people with the following portfolios

  • Project co-ordinator (Chair)-oversees the implementation of the project and regularly liaises with TPA head office.
  • Recruitment-selection of the participants including advertising
  • Secretary-Admin work, records keeping
  • Treasurer- keeps track of the finances of the group
  • Events co-ordinator-organises fields trips and any other events for the TPA
  • People who will apply for these posts must show some level of ability to undertaking them. Their motivation must show previous experience in the chosen position and/or an indication that they are able to perform.
  • Members must be willing to see to the implementation of the TPA programme at Rhodes
  • Must undertake to be available and committed to the programme (minimum 2 hours a week) (30 minute committee meeting; 1 hour volunteer service; 30 minute volunteer preparation)
  • Must be self-starters and able to work with minimum supervision
  • Must be creative and fun loving people
  • Must have some skills or abilities that they can share with others (e.g. Computer skills, leadership abilities)
  • Must love adventurous journey and physical recreation (e.g. sports, cultural activities)

Having done the TPA will be an added advantage but not a requirement for these positions.
