Presidential Draft Anti-Poverty Strategy Discussion

The Vice Chancellor invites interested staff and students to attend presentation by the Presidency on the draft Anti-poverty Strategy Framework on 31 March 2009 at 11:00 in the Council Chamber.

“The draft Anti-poverty Strategy Framework has come about as a result of a realisation that we need to be more co-ordinated as players in society, as stakeholders, in order for us to form partnerships that would strengthen the work that we do to heighten our ability to fight poverty. While government accepts the responsibility to address this situation in our country, it also, cannot on its own, alone, be able to achieve the eradication of poverty without the help of other players in society.� (Dr Vusi Gumede, Chief Policy Analyst in the Presidency, Pretoria)
